Lemon juice is apopular home remedy for lightening skin quickly and cheaply. Some people, however, have a severe chemical reaction when their skin is exposed to lemon juice and sunlight. This painful condition is called phytophotodermatitis, and care should be taken to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and/or UV rays when using lemon juice as a lightening agent. If you're careful about how long you leave the lemon juice on your skin, and in what conditions you apply it, you should find lemon juice a very effective to make your sin lighter

Oranges are useful for the skin health not only when you eat it. It is also an ingredient for face masks and peelings.
Peel of 3 Oranges
2 ts Plain Yogurt
1 ts Honey
Method:
Start by separating the peel from three oranges and tearing it into small pieces. Give them a quick rinse then lay them out in the sun to dry for approximately three days. Once your peels are dry, toss them in the blender and blitz them until the peels are no more than a fine powder. Mix two teaspoons of your orange peel powder with two teaspoons of plain yogurt and one teaspoon of honey in a small bowl. Now your orange peel face mask is ready to go! Apply it evenly to your face and leave it for around 25 minutes before washing it off with warm water.

Citrus generally include oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and limes. These juice laden fruits have to be peeled before consumption. They can be eaten raw or they can be juiced. They are also used to make pickles and marmalades. Acidic citrus, such as lime are served as garnishes for many dishes and also in cocktail. It is also squeezed over meat and used in salad. Citruses are very useful for the immune system. However, as for me citruses are very dangerous for your skin. If you like citruses you need to understand that you cannot consume a lot of them in order not to become allergic. I think you know this fact as they usually show it on the TV.

Now in terms of products in the natural or organic category, essential oils are usually included for their individual properties, aromatherapy benefits, as well as antimicrobial abilities. I know citrus fruit essential oils do provide skin benefits as they are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and are usually good for acne prone skin. They are uplifting to our sense of smell and I also know they can function as natural preservatives by inhibiting the activity of fungi and bacteria and hence, are used in improving the safety of natural or organic products. But I still cannot for the life of me fathom why three or four of them need to be included in one single product.

Researchers have found that people who drink copious amounts of orange juice or eat a lot of grapefruit could be raising their risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
In the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the researchers say that grapefruit and oranges contain compounds called furocoumarins and psoralen. Furocoumarins make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, and furocoumarins and psoralen cause melanoma cells to multiply when exposed to ultraviolet light. The team looked at more than 40,000 men participating in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study and more than 60,000 women in the Nurses' Health Study, and found that the risk of melanoma was very low, with fewer than 2 percent ending up with melanoma over the course of 25 years.

Citrus is a popular cosmetic ingredient not only for its high vitamin content and useful acids, but also for its fresh, uplifting scent. Citric acid kills bacteria on the skin, leaving it fresh and clean. It helps soften rough, dry skin and can be useful in treating calluses, dandruff, chapped hands and other skin conditions. Fresh citrus scent is also popular in aromatherapy as it is energizing and uplifting. You only need to catch a whiff of a fresh orange or lemon to know the powerful effects and its revitalizing properties. Citric acid is used as a natural preservative in bath and beauty products, keeping them safe and free of harmful bacteria.
