Keep a thought journal. If you have trouble identifying your negative thoughts, consider keeping a thought journal. In this journal, write down the way that you perceive different things: yourself, your work, your parents, politics, the environment, and so on.This will force you to pay attention to the critical voice in your head and listen to what it’s saying.Take a few minutes every day to recall times when you thought something negative.
Having a positive outlook is a choice. You can choose to think thoughts that elevate your mood, throw a more constructive light on difficult situations, and generally color your day with brighter, more hopeful approaches to the things you do. By choosing to take a positive outlook on life, you can begin to shift out of a negative frame of mind and see life as filled with possibilities and solutions instead of worries and obstacles. If you want to know how to think more positively, just follow several tips. First of all, take responsibility for your attitude. You are solely responsible for your thoughts, and your outlook on life is a choice. If you tend to think negatively, you are choosing to think that way. With practice, you can choose to have a more positive outlook. Secondly, understand the benefits of being a positive thinker. Choosing to think more positively will not only help you take control of your life and make your everyday experiences more pleasant, but it can also benefit your mental and physical health as well as your ability to deal with change. And finally, visit a peaceful place. It can help to have a personal escape when you need to turn your attitude around. Many people find that spending a little time outdoors improves their mood.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF POSITIVE THINKING
Positive thinking, like any other way of thinking is a habit. The skills of positive thinking taught, like any other, through time and through the understanding of key principles by developing new habits and change their beliefs. :) :) :) :) Positive thinking is really effective and the positive Outlook, however, by his practice, for that matter, to everything in your life needs to be approached consciously. Awareness is a key factor of life management, and positive thinking is a tool of this administration. For mastering any instrument requires time and constant practice.
I could go on and on about reading books and self confidence, but ya know what? Here is my advice... "Fake it 'til you make it!"
Practice makes perfect... you said you plan stuff and you still mess up... well, instead of envisioning everything going perfectly, imagine stuff messing up and how you'd deal with it. Then imagine the most confident person you know making the same mistake. Ask yourself how they would handle it?
Without knowing you personally or without more information, it's hard to say if you're just young, meek, nervous, shy, low self-esteem or a plain ole mental problem. I'm guessing you're a bit young and get embarrassed when stuff doesn't go right and it bothers you. Guess what? Stuff happens to all of us - the difference is how fast we move on from it or do we dwell on it.
A positive person anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes he or she can overcome any obstacle and difficulty. Positive thinking is not accepted by everyone. Some, consider it as nonsense, and scoff at people who follow it, but there is a growing number of people, who accept positive thinking as a fact, and believe in its effectiveness. It seems that this subject is gaining popularity, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it. To use it in your life, you need more than just to be aware of its existence. You need to adopt the attitude of positive thinking in everything you do. With a positive attitude we experience pleasant and happy feelings. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy, and happiness. Our whole being broadcasts good will, happiness and success. Even our health is affected in a beneficial way. We walk tall, our voice is more powerful, and our body language shows the way we feel. We affect, and are affected by the people we meet, in one way or another. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through words, thoughts and feelings, and through body language.
Well, when faced with a situation, instead of thinking the worst (negative), try thinking of a good way to look at the situation. A good perspective. For example, let's say you were looking forward to getting out in the sunshine for a walk, and then it started raining..... instead of feeling negative thoughts, you could instead think of doing something inside like watching a film or baking a cake. Turning the negative thought into a positive one...
First of all you can try this. You are far more likely to think positively about your day if you have a specific plan for what you want to accomplish. Try getting in the habit of each night writing out goals for the next day. Make them simple enough to get done in one day, but challenging enough to keep you motivated. Exercise it. Maybe the most powerful tool in continuing the think positive is a consistent habit of physical activity. Your brain produces chemicals called endorphins during exercise which give the body a natural high. Beyond the chemical benefit is the psychological boost you get from setting an exercise goal and following through on it. You will also look slim and fit which can boost your confidence and mood. All around, exercise is simply a great step toward positive thinking.
I have sometimes situations in my life, when i really have no idea how to live and survive, because you should agree that there are some things that make you and bring you out of order . I try to think more positively , but not always i succeed in it, because foe example, two years ago i had no money to spend on myself , i had just 300 dollars for renting the flat and almost 100 for the month for my nutrition. So, just think that you have only those money to make yourself not hungry and i was literally lost in my life. Then i realized that there are people who need more than i . I have done everything right.
Some time ago I realized, I Don't Have To walk around with a permanent smile on my face!!
I like the more serious side of myself. Yes, life has been tough, but stuffing away all the negativity, to be that "positive" person I was raised to be, did me more harm than good. All it did was build resentment, stuff anger--that would come out in all the wrong ways, led to years of therapy. Depression, perhaps even helped along a serious neurological illness(who really knows, there..), and who knows what else...
I'm liking realism over Pollyanaism. I'd rather feel my emotions, in the moment, and deal with them as quick as I can, than what pollyanaism does to a soul.
Positive thinking increases cognitive flexibility and creativity which helps in coping better with the situation at hand which in turn leads to more positive thinking, resulting in even better coping. [Barbara Fredrickson's 'broaden and build theory'.] It makes you open to new ideas and experiences whereas negative thinking, on the other hand, induces anxiety and stress, resulting in a flight or fight response. Usually negative thinking dampens one's spirits, thus leading to the restriction of creative thoughts and actions.
Heres a quote I often use.
Which I believe sums up all the answers if you think upon it.
"I hold it true, that thoughts are things.
Endowed with being, breath and wings.
And then we send them forth to fill.
The world with good results, or ill."
