What sources of information do you usually use?

As we live in the 21st century, I think that the majority of people would agree with me if I said that the Internet is the main source of information. But I personally feel, that once in a while we can resort to other ways of finding out some information which we need. Our friends, relatives and people in general are also knowledgeable enough to give you all the information you might be interested in.

There are multiple formats and types of sources that you will discover as you begin your research. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses inherent in each of these can help you make informed decisions in your selections. The chart below provides you with more specific information about the variety of sources you will encounter during your research process. It's also important to understand when different types of sources will be published about a specific event. The progression of media coverage about a newsworthy event is called the Information Cycle. Knowing when a type of source appears in the Information Cycle can help you select the best source for your research or assignment. A journal is a collection of articles usually written by scholars in an academic or professional field. An editorial board reviews articles to decide whether they should be accepted. Articles in journals can cover very specific topics or narrow fields of research. A database contains citations of articles in magazines, journals, and newspapers. They may also contain citations to podcasts, blogs, videos, and other media types. Some databases contain abstracts or brief summaries of the articles, while other databases contain complete, full-text articles. Books cover virtually any topic, fact or fiction. For research purposes, you will probably be looking for books that synthesize all the information on one topic to support a particular argument or thesis. Libraries organize and store their book collections on shelves called "stacks."

I really don't consider any of the mainstream world news organizations as credible. Really I can listen to any news source as long as I understand it's bias. Generally I read the same story from various sources and try to pick out the few kernels of truth they have in common, although that is no guarantee.
I like to read the same story as told by conservative media, and then by liberal media. Many times one would never know they were reading about the same event. For meaningful, hard-hitting news I know I can trust without all that fact-checking bullshit, I turn to Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

Yeah, thank you for facilitating our answers by your list of information sources. Honestly, I use almost all of them, but I don't use all of them for news. For getting new information, I watch TV, and Internet. As for me, they are the best ways to get this kind of information.

These days I use the internet more,of course, but I always loved to read newspapers of all kinds. But now,if I want to see what's going on in the world,I can turn on the TV and search for a news channel.Or just go to different news websites,my favorites are RTL's,BBC and CNN.If I want to read something from the enertainment world,I go to Variety,Hollywood Reporter or Entertainment Online.I also use Wikipedia a lot-there's just an ocean of curious information for me there. And you know what-simply by talking to other people, you'll get tons of information too ;)

As for me the best source of information is the internet. The internet has become the best source of information as there is nothing on which you cannot find information by browsing the internet, whether about science, technology, mathematics, history, countries, sociology, medicine, engineering, sports, games, music, movie, jobs or education. What with online encyclopedias and different sites on various subjects to gather information about a topic is no longer a hard task to do. But I usually use it to read the news, find out what is going on in the world. Since several past years I do not believe in the television as the truthful kind of media.

There are many kinds of media. And most of people choose television and life news. I do understand why they do it, the main news are told there. Other people choose radio, newspapers or magazines. As for me I adore internet and always use it every time I need some information. Either the news or online movies, or social sites… I love internet for the connection. It makes the distance small or even unnoticeable. Emailing, or face book communication, I like all of it. Although some people think them to be evil, I have a completely different point of view.
